Sanctuary
by Elizabeth Rose
a sanctuary only steps from the door
a place to gather my thoughts
a quiet corner secluded from sight
where peace of mind is sought
I sit in a thicket of bright leafy ferns
with impatiens of pink and white
the windchimes from the patio deck
makes everything just right
an angel sits on an old tree stump
she gives me the slightest of winks
and the sound of water from the lily pond
soon soothes away all my kinks
I reflect and regroup, I know I’ve come home
to this haven amongst the trees
the cares of the world can’t pull me down
for here I can do as I please
